Chandrapur College was established on 9th September, 1992 in the historical place Chandrapur. The college is situated at the eastern part of the Kamrup (Metropolitan) district. It is the only higher educational institute of the locality. The college was established by some visionary local people. Contribution of those people will always be remembered.
Chandrapur is a historical place. Most of the artifacts, scripts, monuments etc belonging to the Ahom kingdom are lying scattered around Panbari, Misamari, kajali Chawki, Mayong, Chandrapur, Tatimara and Hatishila.
